Crowds Flock To First Lady's Book Reading
Unity Temple on the Plaza was packed as the pair promoted a book they co-authored, "Read All About It." The book encourages children to read.
"I just think it's really neat how they came here out of all places, right before (Jenna Bush's) wedding," said Madeline Arbelauz, a 15-year-old who was first in line to see the first lady.
The mother-daughter duo also met privately with the members of Reach Out and Read, a group that provides books to 25,000 local children.
"I thought this was a wonderful presentation. This is a delightful book. Both first lady Laura Bush and Jenna were so engaging," said Jane Hardy with Reach Out and Read.
Jenna Bush and her mother also visited four elementary schools Tuesday morning. They signed 1,500 books at the evening event.
